Shuangyasan city lies in the northeast of Heilongjiang province, 460 kilometers from the provincial capital Harbin. The total area of Shuangyashan is 22,483 square kilometers and the population totals 1,510,000. It is in the hinterland of Sanjiang Plain, the general configurations of the earth’s surface are low rivers and warm beaches. Hypsography of this city is smooth and low-lying, filled with numerous swamps. Reed, swamp, Xiaoyezhang, muskeg are the main natural vegetation here. It is one of the well-preserved primitive everglade in Sanjiang Plain; in particular, the widespread reed and swamp area here is the only large area of reed and swamp in Sanjiang Plain.
